Experience:

  • Four (4) years’ experience in supervision or in an administrative position preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years working in an infant & toddler program setting

Qualities and Skills:

  • Mature problem solving/judgment with a variety of decision making techniques and negotiation skills
  • Ability to seek guidance and counsel where appropriate
  • Complete knowledge of policies, regulations and reporting systems in regards to licensing of facilities
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
  • Computer Literacy: Word processing and Database skills
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication
  • Ability to build positive relationships both at the center and community level
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner
  • A strong commitment to quality childcare programs

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and management of the center infrastructure in; controlling and applying resources relative to the center staff, the center facility, the community in which the center is operating, the families which use the service, and the Licensed Operator of the center,
  • To manage and oversee all policies and procedures related to EHS; staff, facilities, health & safety, community, building maintenance, fire inspections, building inspections, licensing, ordering office supplies and program delivery.
  • To ensure relative input to grant goals, self-assessment and strategic planning occurs regarding EHS programming.
  • Ensure that systems are followed for the requisition, repair and replacement of materials and equipment and regular facility review and safety checks are followed at all times.
  • Ensure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing state.
  • Work in conjunction with maintenance and facilities to ensure that the design and layout of space is arranged for efficient and effective operation of the program, including kitchen facilities; outdoor play, washrooms, storage and parking space; office, consultation and staff space; and classroom space.
  • Provide assistance in the mediation of parent issues.
  • Responsible for timely filing of check requests for program activities
  • Update PAS and QRIS reporting requirements
  • Work in conjunction with teachers to assure monthly reports/tracking on in-kind, health and safety, meal counts, kitchen reports, allergies, tracking and disabilities occur
  • Develop a relationship and maintain communication with community organizations and other external individuals and organizations of influence for the organization.
  • Attend and participate in community events and/or ERSEA activities
  • Responsible for opening and closing checklists.
  • Conduct ongoing file reviews and provide trends to program areas as appropriate.

  • Direct supervision of Teacher Directors, at assigned centers/sites, including monitoring of compliance with licensing and Agency position requirements.
  • Build a strong, competent, complementary team through team building, the provision of professional development opportunities and timely and regular staff meetings.
  • Provide guidance and support to teaching staff with regards to classroom coverage.
  • Meet with assigned staff at least every other month to provide Staff Developments, culminating with a yearly staff performance evaluation as well as providing disciplinary action as needed.
  • Oversee and direct staff in emergency situations
  • Maintain ongoing communication, interactions, and follow-up with Program areas in order to coordinate necessary EHS support to staff, families, and children, i.e. setting up team meetings when appropriate.
  • Timely review and sign off on all timesheets reflecting accurate time worked
  • Work in conjunction with program areas to ensure specific training on safe, healthy, developmentally appropriate activities are being implemented in the classroom and are properly documented; in-service and pre-service.

 Education:

  • Work with the EHS Manager to guide specific training on an individual basis for staff, to ensure that safe, healthy developmentally appropriate activities are being implemented in the classroom and are properly documented.
  • Assist teaching staff in involving the community in their classroom as appropriate.
  • Work in conjunction with the EHS Manager with regards to all educational aspects to classrooms; assessments, outcomes, school readiness and family engagement as it relates to education.
