Part day/school year preschool and our part day/full year infant toddler classrooms will be offered via a remote learning program option for the 2020-2021 school year.

With the newly prescribed Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care health and safety regulations it is not feasible, at this time, to physically open all of our Head Start and Early Head Start centers and classrooms.

Our EEC contracted Full Day/Full Year classrooms for eligible families working or going to school full time will open, at a limited capacity.

Thank you for your patience as we work together through this challenging time.  For more information or to apply call 413-417-7779 or fill out an application here.

Part Day programs using remote learning will offer comprehensive early learning services to enrolled children and their families in the following ways:

  • Class Dojo – Class Dojo is an on-line program designed to connect teachers and support staff with families. Every classroom will have their own Class Dojo that is set up by the Teacher Director. Parents will be invited to join via email. Families will be expected to participate in the child-friendly planned activities, live stream videos and parent meetings. Staff will work closely with families in need of technology support.
  • Daily Lessons/Activities – Parents/Guardians will be encouraged to participate in daily activities and lessons that support their child’s developmental growth. The teacher will offer assigned times for specific activities and live stream events to allow for parent/guardian to participate.
  • Parent Meetings – There will be individual parent meetings scheduled for teachers to connect with families, reflect on the week’s activities and discuss their child’s progress. In addition, virtual center parent meetings will continue to occur monthly with all families to share information and resources, provide updates and answer any questions from parents.
  • Comprehensive Services – In addition to the educational pieces, all comprehensive services including family services, health, nutrition, mental health, and special needs, will be provided to families. Curbside pick-up, resource and referral, family goal-setting, health/nutrition and mental health services will be provided in a safe manner.

We will communicate regularly with parents and guardians, using email, text messages, phone calls, virtual meetings and printed materials. HCS Head Start staff will work individually with families/guardians to assess what resources are needed to fully participate in the remote learning option.
